Instant Vacation

Exhausted, dishevled, and clad in clothes stained with child vomit, I drag myself into the kitchen. Water + Ice + Lemon = Tahiti, or a Sandal's all-inclusive resort.

From the Mouth of Babes

5 year old: "I'm going to have a wife."

Me: You are?

5 year old: "I'm going to have a wife to marry."

Me: I see.

5 year old: "I don't know her name yet."

Me: No.

5 year old: "But God does!"

Disturbing Behaviour

This kind of thing cuts across all lines. I know of Republicans who worship their party. Then there are some conservatives or libertarians who look askance at these toe-the-line types. They worship their ideology instead.

Many people, on the left and right, choose politics as their religion.

But this takes the cake: Is Barack Obama the Messiah?

I'm not ready to declare the junior Senator from Illinois the Anti-Christ. Not yet. Political campaigns often energize themselves using paradigms of conversion, faith, devotion, etc.

Even taking that into the account, some of this is over the top and actually quite creepy:

"a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama"

As For You,
You May Call Me Concert Mistress

This past weekend I acquired a violin. Nothing fancy ... the
Sino Coetaneo, a step up from the  bare-basic beginner model.

I named it Linus.

I've gleefully tortured the other residents of 1409 all weekend with my delightful squeaking.

I first encountered the violin at the tender age of 10. I played through high school, but alas, I did not rent to own, and I let it go.   Then when I was in the convent, we put on a Christmas concert, and I played the second part in "Carol of the Bells."

So I've decided to take it up again.

I can't wait to get sheet music for Air on a G String .  Ahh, Bach! Long ago, someone would say his name and I'd say "Gesundheit." But no more!
