I spent part of this weekend in Baltimore, with the Little Sisters of the Poor. They had an All Saints Mass there at Baltimore's newly renovated Basilica (see picture). It especially celebrated their foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan, since the Little Sisters first American foundation was in Baltimore, plus she was just recently canonized.
(Interesting side note: the "All Saints Sisters of the Poor" were also there. They are an ex-Episcopalian religious community recently received into full communion with the Catholic Church. It was their first "All Saints" day as Catholics.)
So, the Little Sisters. Their spirituality (littleness, humility) and charism (care for the elderly poor) are awesome. I love all these French-founded communities, I don't know why exactly.
It was super scary working with the elderly. The second day I was a bit more confident. I am not at all science inclined, and all the other girls visiting seemed to have biology (ie., "pre-nursing") majors. On the other hand, the community life seemed spot on for me.
Anyway, I'm going to start volunteering at their home here in DC. Whether I'm called there or not, it will help me "stretch."

You will do just fine. I worked as a CNA for 10 years in nursing homes - the people are amazing. It is one of the best types of formation, I think... .
